323 – Palm Springs Joshua Tree KOA. Back again. Large back-in site this time. Really enjoy the mineral pools. Enjoyed Coachella Valley Brewing again. Also, really enjoyed our breakfast at Sherman’s deli and bakery downtown Palm Springs.
322 – Orange Grove RV park. Back again. Went to the food truck again for great street tacos.
321 – Fairpark county RV park. Back again. Backin site along the front fence. Bathrooms were working this time and were generally clean. Enjoyed visit with Suzanne’s parents and our youngest son. Visited our friends Jimmie & Cat and Mikie & Marsha in the south bay for dinner. Took Rio to Santa Cruz and Davenport of nice walk. Visited Humble Sea Brewing Company and Whale City Bakery. Took Graham to Berkeley for drinks and dinner at East Bay Spice Company and Jupiter pizza. Took Suzanne’s parents and Graham to lunch in Jack London Square called Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine. Did house repairs for inlaws house. It was really hot during the visit.
320 – Heritage RV Park. Missed the entrance since a strip mall was build around the entrance. Nice place with lots of trees. Bath house was nice. Cell service. Cable. Could not use the dish. It was really hot.
319 – Bill & Liz’s farm. Back again. Really great seeing Bill, Liz and Eva again. Jay and Adreana were visiting relatives in Mexico. The farm is getting better each visit. The gardens produced quite a bit of produce and it was great. Bill had the concrete for the their new pole barn. Enjoyed their jacuzzi. Bill helped us install the new tv, fix the RV center console and put temporary latches on the kitchen drawers.
318 – Sun Resort. Back again. Resort and booking fees. Nice breakfast with Tom and Anne at a local golf club south of the rv park. Went to Lux Sucre for great french pastries. Another great dinner with Mark, Deb and Rose at their house. Wished we could have spent more time in the area.
317 – Issaquah Village RV. Park is okay, but very plain. Right off I 90, so very noisy. Wifi and cell good. Bath house is good. Narrow sites. Weather was around 80 beginning of October, but smokey. Graham flew up for the weekend to spend with us and Cameron and Meghan (celebrating their engagement). Very nice dinner @ Salish Lodge in Snoqualamie Falls. Nice hike around the southern end of Lake Washington. Breakfast @ Redwing Cafe in Renton. Nice hike in the arboretem – then beer () and El Camion food truck. Escape room (disappointing – Game of Thrones theme), then lunch @ ().
316 – Confluence State Park. Very nice site – half circle PT site. FHU incl 50-amps. Green grass. Smokey, but beautiful drive. Easy entrance thru US Customs.
315 – Nk’mip Campground. Nice PT sites. FHU. Nice bath house. A little smokey. Warm. Had dinner @ June and Larry’s condo. Went wine tasting at Road 13, Hester Creek and Silver Sage – enjoyed Hester Creek the most. Would have liked to have spent more time in Osoyoos.
314 – Wrights beach. Site was taken, but able to get a back-in (Pull-in) site overlooking the lake. Sites were narrow and full of large rocks. Great views but no trees or plants in our section. Tiered rows. KRV went thru the campground. Nice bike ride down to south-end of the lake. Really good dinner @ Elmas on the lake. Drinks and live music @ Cannery brewery. Wine tasting @ Deep Roots (really enjoyed) and Moraine.
313 – Kekuli Bay Provincial Park. Nice provincial park. Tiered levels. Pull-in site. No hook-ups. Vista oil change and lube @ Jiffy Lube. Wine tasting @ Arrowleaf Cellars and Ancient Hill.
312 – Lamplighter Campground. Nice campground. New bath house. Was raining from Banff to Revelstoke. Several construction zones along the way. Stopped @ Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. Would have like to have stayed another couple of days. Great cocktails @ Monashee Spirits Craft Distillery. Good breakfast @ La Baquette. Drove up Mt Revelstoke NP for the views of the valley as well as a hike. Drove back towards Glacier NP for a very nice hike.
311 – Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court. FHU site – half circle site. Nice bath house. Weather was somewhat stormy half of the week, but there were a few nice days. Really liked Banff and the walking streets and outdoor seating areas – but it was really crowded, even in September. Went to lunch with June and Larry (along with another couple of Rincon East) @ The Grizzly House (cheese fondue). Celebrated our 38th Wedding Anniversary with fondue dinner @ WaldHaus – part of the Fairmont. Went back to the pub for chocolate fondue (also schweinshaxe) and oktoberfest beer with Rio. Fly fished on the bow river near the golf course and downtown Banff. Saw black bear and a herd of Elk on the golf course. Visited the Bow River falls. Visited Canmore (nice town) and ate @ Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. Great coffee and french pastries @ Wild Flour. Took Rio for ice cream @ Cows. Bought charcuterie board at farmers market. Visited the other 2-ski resorts in the area. Drove up to the viewing area and saw a herd of mountain goats on the road to Norquay. The alternate road was closed to cars for 10-KMs for bike riding – great little ride. Road our bikes into town and the golf course road. Really liked the animal fencing and animal over & under passes for wildlife on the main highway. Drove to Kooteney NP and saw Radium Hot Springs (there was a huge classic car show).
310 – Lake Louise Hard Sided campground. Nice PT site. Electric only. Dump station with fresh water. Side by side site – going opposite direction. Had to flip power cord around RV. Beautiful drive from Jasper to Lake Louise along the ice field highway – really would have liked to have spent more time at the ice fields (boondocking available at the major glacier). Got last parking space at Lake Louise. Hiked up to Agnes Tea House – 1700′ elevation, 6.8 KM RT hike. Took shuttle to see Moraine Lake – took wrong shuttle bus, but eventually got there. Took Rio to Lake Louise in the early evening for a walk around the lake. Visited the ski resort.
309 – Mt Robson Provincial Park. Really nice wooded campground. Back-in site. No hook-ups.
308 – Whistler campground. Really nice campground in the NP. Back-in site. 50-amps but no water or sewer. Was asked to leave after 2-days due to power outage in Jasper. Went into town and found a coffee house with good pastries – Bear’s Paw. Nice visit at Maligne Lake – good coffee and crepes. Also visited Edith Lake – the fairmont hotel was closed to non-guests. Saw a herd of elk along the side road back to the campground. Later saw a herd of elk at the campground.
307 – KOA. Nice PT site. Nice bath house. Really smokey. Good beer and food @ Folding Mountain Taphouse. Got Rio soft ice cream @ Wendys.
306 – Carson-Pegasus Prov Park. Great site facing the lake. Parallel site to the road with large tent area. 30-amp and water site. Would have liked to have stayed longer. Went into town in Whitecourt several times. Coffee and wifi @ Western Canada Coffee. Got Rio ice cream @ DQ which was expensive. Ate @ Sajj Shawarma.
305 – Spring Lake. Really nice back-in site facing the lake. Warm weather. Got Rio ice cream at the CG store. Suzanne flew out of Edmonton to visit her parents. Cameron and Meghan drove down to visit as well. Our front AC unit failed, so it was rather hot for Rio and myself. Many parks along the river in Edmonton. Missed out on the Fringe festival. Took Rio to Kind ice cream twice. Suzanne and I went to MEAT bbq which was quite nice – met two locals – and drove one man home since his bike tire blew out at the restaurant. Took our bikes into town and rode around for a few hours. The people @ RV Mobile really took care of us – quite the ordeal to get warranty to cover the cost of a new unit – ended up getting heat strip instead of heat pump due to local inventory and shipping issues.
304 – Mile 0 campground. Do not remember the campround – PT site. FHUs. Visited the site and museum for Mile 0 for the Alcan. Good butcher downtown. Downtown was small, but nice.
303 – Triple G Hideway. Long PT sites. FHU. 30-amps. Cable. Cell service okay. No wifi. Bath house was okay. We should have moved to a shaded site – it was pretty hot while here. Took Rio for drinks @ Down to Earth Health shop. Also got Rio ice cream @ RV park as well as store in town. Not many restaurants nor coffee places in town. Went to local farmer’s market where we bought bread, meat and local products – pretty good stuff. Saw black bear, mountain sheep and carabou while driving to town. Joined our friends to watch special meteor shower and northern lights. A couple of long construction sites along the highway.
302 – Liard Hot Springs Lodge and campground. Interesting lodge (it was pretty much closed down). Chain across RV park entrance. Had a fairly long PT site. 30-amps. Water. No sewer nor dump site. Went to the hot springs – it was a lot of fun. The park’s CG behind electric fortified fence, but the hot springs outside of fence a long a long raised walk-way. There was a black bear eating berries close to the deck around the springs – one of the park employees fired a flare gun which spooked the bear and it jumped onto a tree before running away. Our friends Larry and June saw a herd of bison walk across the bridge – the bision actually showed up at our campground for an hour or so – it was pretty exciting.
301 – Watson Lake downtown RV Park. Bath house was surprisingly nice. Cell service was okay. Not much in town. Took Rio to the lake to look around. We went to the forest of signs – we put our names on the 2nd jeep plate and posted near the center of the forest – pretty cool.
300 – Yukon Motel and Park. PT site. 30-amp. Did not use water at site nor sani dump. Cell service was okay. Did not use bath house since we heard it was pretty bad. They had a pretty bad ass smoker out back.
299 – High Country RV. Back in Whitehorse on way back south. PT site this time, but site a little narrow without a lot of great room in front for Jeep. Cell service was okay. Bath house was okay. Had a great dinner @ Klondike Ribs and Salmon. Had a beer at Polarity Brewing Co and good food @ Pickapeppa – pretty good jamaican food. Took Rio for nice walk down near the river front. Most places shutdown on Sundays – including coffee places. Saw a beautiful red fox down town. Saw black bear and moose while driving to town.
298 – Hotel Carmacks. 30-amps. Cell service was okay. Bath house was okay. PT sites looked good, but we were given back-in sites that were a little tight (no one showed up for the PT sites). There was a river next to the campground – behind the hotel. Terrible construction sites on way to town – damaged right front trim on a detour thru a muddy, tight and bouncy slope.
297 – Gold Rush Campground. Nice campground downtown, within easy walking to the town. FHUs. Bath house was okay. Back to Canadian cell service. The road from Chicken, Alaska to Dawson City was better. Hard packed to about the Canadian border, then paved and hard packed again. Weather was cloudy mixed with lite showers. Took a free car ferry across the Yukon river (fit about 2 RVs and a few cars). Went on a guided walking tour, guided firestation and self-guided biking tour – really enjoyed the town. Went to the dome on hill above town – beautiful views but cloudy days. Took Rio to ice cream a couple of times. Ate breakfast twice at Red Mammoth Bistro. Missed out on dinner @ a new bistro in town – seemed to be fairly new fusion. Went to a show @ Diamond Tooth Gerties for singing and dancing show – was pretty good for being free – casino, restaurant, et al. Missed out on our friend Larry have a sourtoe drink @ the local saloon – would have been funny to watch.
