Winter 2026

517 – Jojoba SKP Resort. Site 224 – pull in site. Great site, large, great views, lots of site improvements. Beth n Steve n Sadie joined us for a couple of weeks in site 808. Drove up Montezuma pass to the campground. Suzanne took Felix for new monthly artritus shots in Julian – given Felix had 6 episodes over 2 days a few weeks ago, the vet agreed to put Felix on Keppra (3x daily) – we will see how it goes.

Easter potluck at the club house.

516 – Springs at Borrego RV Resort. Back again in site 401. 3-month visit this year. Great to be back after last year’s shortened visit. Another good drive down south – Felix was awesome again in the cat catio. This year started off with a several challenges. My left arm was still in an immobilzer from my left shoulder replacement. Suzanne took a fall at the rv storage site and fractured her foot. She toughed it out whilst we setup the RV the site 401. Took Suzanne to Brawley for xrays – they gave her crutches and a boot – we were quite the pair walking around the RV and campground – lunch at El Zarape – followed up with doctor in el centro who gave Suz a ankle boot followed by lunch at panara bread. A couple of good rain storms have brought a lot of winter blooms out and cooler weather at night. Suzanne finally able to participate in weekly yoga and water arobic classes. Daily walks around the resort. Took a couple of desert hikes to see the great blooms that started in December. Spending time reading and streaming new shows.

Susan and Sam and Pearl visited for 8-days in mid February – took them to all the sights as well as dinner at Ram’s Hill – hot day hiking to Palm Canyon. Madeline n Michelle visited mid March – they stayed at Palm Canyon Hotel. Showed them the sights and had them over for dinner.

Free movies at library for the film festival. Doobie Brothers tribute band followed by dinner at Ram’s hill. Dinner at Beth and Steves several times and vice versa. Concerts included Barb Streisand, Jimmie’s front porch and local mariachi singers. Performances at Library, Michaels, Rams Hill, Big Horn and the Springs. Went to lectures at library and night sky event at the state park. Art guild events including art walks and visits to homes. Meals at Ram’s Hill, Red Ocotillo and the new restaurant Michaels. Big Horn restaurant was closed for the season.

Had Sharon over for happy hour and another day for soup dinner. Got savory roll and fresh pickled onion bread from Beth. Went to lunch and dinner a few times with Tom n Ann, as well as Beth n Steve. Suzanne had a few happy hours at our RV with Terry n Georgine as well as at Beth n Steve’s RV with Bruce n Janice as well as Hari and Kerri.

PT in Julian for six weeks plus – 2x per week. Gallbladder episode followed by early morning visit to ER in Rancho Mirage for CT and ultrasound – at least three weeks recovery. A gallbladder flare up late January made it obvious that we needed to remove my gallbladder. January was a lot more stressful than we needed. Suzanne found a doctor in La Jolla, whose clinic, specialized in robotic surgeries for various organs. Had a very low fact diet from January 10th to March 16th when I had by gallbladder removed at Scripps Memorial hospital in La Jolla. Followup visit in La Jolla end of March – supplies and errands in Poway. Non fat diet for the first 2 weeks post surgery, with lots of experimenting for the next six months or so. Will resume shoulder PT after we move to Jojoba SKP Resort in early April.

Felix continued to develop seizures. Frequency varied from several episodes per week to once a month. Visiting vet in Julian. We have Felix on monthly shot and daily pill to help with arthritus.

Purchased outside stove and oven – bought 10amp 25′ power cord – as well as 30-amp to 15amp connector.

The weather was harder this visit. Many cold nights in January. Heat waves late January, mid February and late March – the weather was 90s and 100s for over ten days – including 4 days between 103 and 107. Wrapped reflectix on front windows. Bought awning extensions to help with heat.

Had a wind event which pancaked the front awning assembly – fortunately, the air strut was fully extended – Steve climbed onto the Vista to help with removing the inner brace arm. We were able to close the right assembly and put 2 screws into the wall mount. Purchased new right assembly from Panther Rv parts from Washington.

Danville house for about a month

From December Danville. Put RV into storage in Borrego Springs. Forgot a bunch of stuff – thankfully not critical to Reno. Drive to Danville 2-days after TG was really difficult – Felix was great even though the drive was 10.5 hours instead of 8.5 hours. Visited Suzanne’s mother at Sunrise. Great breakfast at Sidebar again. Met up with the S’vale group for dinner – picked up Traeger for transport back to Danville.

Took a couple of walks on walking trails. Took Suz’s ebike for maintenance and new battery in Pleasanton. Coffee and pastries at Inklings in Pleasanton, lunch at Tous de Jours. Favorites like sidebar and levers and maison benoit. Picked up Graham in San Francisco – power was out at his friend’s neighborhood, so walked to dinner at a very interesting place called Shuggies Trash Pie and interesting dessert at Souvla in the mission. Visited berkely hills, lunch at dinner at gregoire restaurant, drinks at jupiter pizza, followed by visit to the claremont hotel to see holiday decorations. locanda ravello in danville. Drinks at auburn lounge as well as canyon club brewing. Discovered new best coffee place in Danville called Tellus coffee – great pastries as well. Went to Pleasanton to see a movie and coffee at Story coffee. Met Kaya for dinner called Slanted Door followed by a very nice visit with her parents in the livermore area. Dinner at Zaya Thai again. Visited farmers markets in pleasanton and danville. A couple of nice visits with Suz’s mother at Sunrise – she was sick and then the facility was locked down, so visits were fewer and brief. Really nice Christmas dinner with Suz’s mother, Graham and family friend at the house – good meal and good visit – found out that the family friend has covid from cruise, but we were all fine. Sadly, we learned that Suzanne’s cousin from Washington passed away on Christmas day.

Reno VRBO. Nice place, view of NW hills, comfortable. Went to Perryns of course, same for Beloved. Coffee at the Hub and walk along the river. pre surgery meeting then early dinner for Suzanne’s birthday at Arario in mid town – it was good, but no alcholol for John. Surgery went well with Dr Dobbs – couple of hours long – left arm in imobilizer for six weeks. Short walks outside along the lake and pool – daily lattes at the condo place as well as the coffee place next door. Ate mostly at the condo due to meds. Lunch at the med restaurant south of auburn on I80.

Missed midnight UTC deadline for SL pause – will be billed for December. Finally got the KIA registered in California (battery died and 2 wheels needed a lot of air) – the colorado check engine light prevents smog check (need to investigate after Reno).
