521 – Sun Resorts Cava. Site 89. FHU. Cell and SL are good. Good bath house. Memorial-day weekend – placed was rather rowdy and noisy. Went to Barrelhouse brewery for live music – two bands (first band was country and good, second band was 90s) – celebrating their 13-year anniversary. Got ice cream from Negranti. Both in Tin City – great place – need to go back see more places. Wine tasting at Sculptera – good wine, live music and great art. Visited downtown Paso Robles – good coffee at AMSTRDM. Played pool at the resort’s club house – the pool table and equipment was fairly worn.
Felix had multipe seizures – he seemed constipated so he did not eat consistently – gave him meds to help with his bowels.

520 – Pismo Coast RV. 520 – Pismo Coast RV. Site xx. FHU. Cell and SL good. Bath house good. Live music at resort. Lots of vintage trailers attending a rally. Went to Laetitia Winery, per Graham’s request, and listened to really good music. Went on a couple of walks on the pier, boardwalk and beaches in Pismo – coffee at Korcado and Scorpion (former good/latter not so good). Went to Avila for a nice beach walk – coffee at Krakken. Taco tuesdays at Taqueria El Guero. Really good dinner at Ember in Arroyo Grande. Went to thursday night food faire – bought bread and veggies – good street food. Coffee at Scout nearby.

519 – Ventura KOA. Site 30. Water and electric. Dump station available. Bathhouse okay. Cell okay, SL solid at this site. Front on several jack pads. Really tough drive to the KOA – tried to get RV into the best western parking lot to connect the jeep (next to Escondido RV) as well as getting gas at Sam’s club near riverside – really do not like driving LA area even if it is 15, 10 and 210. Peacocks at our loop – only 1 other RV and very quiet. Visited town of Santa Paula – nice place. Walked along the beach and marina near the channel islands NP visitor center in ventura. Had good drinks and really good savory pizza dough appetizer at Fluid State Beer Garden. Liked downtown area – they blocked off 4-5 blocks where many restaurants and bars are located. Went on a nice hike with views of Ojai, then walked the downtown, visited farmers market then a really good dinner at Ojai Roti. Okay and very small coffee at Three birds coffee.
Felix had multiple seisures – trying to keep medicine dispencing consistent – bought churu at petco in ventura – Felix seems to like the new food item.
518 – Escondido RV Resort. Site 80. Site somewhat on a slope – space for jeep – had to stay to the right getting into the site, but then moved far to the left for space. Sites have great vegitation but really narrow – we were on the 2nd level next to the park. Met Ann and Scott from Minnesota with their 2 chocolate labs. Met up with Madeline and Michelle for downtown walk and early dinner at Goat and Vine in Temecula. Met with Jimmie and his daughters in Del Mar – walked the boardwalk and had an okay meal at Oscars near their condo – had not seen Cassie for about 8-years. Went to a great farmers market in Luecadia on sunday. Met Jimmie on the Wednesday farmer’s market in Carlsbad then had beer at Docent Brewing. Met Jimmy for bike ride between Carlsbad and Encinitas – coffee and snacks at Sip n Sea near Encinitas – started helping Jimmy with his new apartment. Took Jimmie to his birthday dinner at Nicks on State in Carlsbad – walked around town – then went back to his new apartment for Suz’s bday cake and finished putting Jimmie’s new tv cabinet together. Suzanne and I had a very nice dinner in Oceanside at Dija Mare, then walk at a street faire and walk on the pier afterwards. Went on a long beach walk then good lunch at Guahan grill in oceanside.
Felix had more seizures, more frequent but less severe.
Shadepro installed the right assembly for the awning that was shipped to Jojoba Hills – yay!
Went to Encinitas for final checkup for gallbladder surgery. Picked up Suz’s front bike tire that fixed a broken spoke. Coffee and snacks at Loftys. Previously, walked around the downtown area and had good food at City tacos after coffee at Philz.
Went to Julian for Felix’s shot and checkup, then went to last shoulder PT session with Matt in Alpine. Lunch at Tapatios – Suzanne really loved her selections, I was good with mine.
517 – Jojoba SKP Resort. Limited to 28-days. Reserved for next year – same for Beth and Steve. Site 224 – pull in site. Great site, large, great views, lots of site improvements. Cell was okay, but SL was strong. Beth n Steve n Sadie joined us for a couple of weeks in site 808. Drove up Montezuma pass to the campground – not a bad drive. Great facilities and really warm pool and jacuzzi. Lots of quails and their chicks. Easter dinner at the clubhouse. Dinner/show, grease, at the clubhouse with local talent. Suzanne went to line dancing, water yoga, and many different arts and crafts. John went to wood carving sessions with local talent. Not able to use wood/metal shops. Went to see the Ramona show in Hemet following by dinner at Raising Cane. Went to Shermans for lunch in Palm Desert then Rocketman show with Beth and Steve. Met up with Jimmie and Barb for lunch and wine tasting at Monte de Oro and Miramonte. Jimmie stayed for 2 nights in the RV after all these years – took him to Julian for cider and pies. Went to see Project Hail Mary movie then dinner at The Local Provisions. Suzanne and I really enjoyed the horse country short cuts around downtown Temecula. We went for a hike, walk downtown and lunch in Idllywild Pine Cone – Manzanita Grill. Went to lunch across road at Ranch California RV Resort. Bought bumbleberry pies at Mom’s to compare with Julian Pie company – Mom’s so much better. Celebrated Beth’s birthday.
Suzanne took Felix for new monthly artritus shots in Julian – given Felix had 6 episodes over 2 days a few weeks ago, the vet agreed to put Felix on Keppra (3x daily) – we will see how it goes.
Sadie continued to have stomach problems – happened all the way back to Washington.

Made appointments for Steve and John at RV service in Murrieta – cancelled after Shadepro fixed Steve’s awning at his site – our awning delayed to Escondido.

516 – Springs at Borrego RV Resort. Back again in site 401. 3-month visit this year. Great to be back after last year’s shortened visit. Another good drive down south – Felix was awesome again in the cat catio. This year started off with a several challenges. My left arm was still in an immobilzer from my left shoulder replacement. Suzanne took a fall at the rv storage site and fractured her foot. She toughed it out whilst we setup the RV the site 401. Took Suzanne to Brawley for xrays – they gave her crutches and a boot – we were quite the pair walking around the RV and campground – lunch at El Zarape – followed up with doctor in el centro who gave Suz a ankle boot followed by lunch at panara bread. A couple of good rain storms have brought a lot of winter blooms out and cooler weather at night. Suzanne finally able to participate in weekly yoga and water arobic classes. Daily walks around the resort. Took a couple of desert hikes to see the great blooms that started in December. Spending time reading and streaming new shows.
Susan and Sam and Pearl visited for 8-days in mid February – took them to all the sights as well as dinner at Ram’s Hill – hot day hiking to Palm Canyon. Madeline n Michelle visited mid March – they stayed at Palm Canyon Hotel. Showed them the sights and had them over for dinner.
Free movies at library for the film festival. Doobie Brothers tribute band followed by dinner at Ram’s hill. Dinner at Beth and Steves several times and vice versa. Concerts included Barb Streisand, Jimmie’s front porch and local mariachi singers. Performances at Library, Michaels, Rams Hill, Big Horn and the Springs. Went to lectures at library and night sky event at the state park. Art guild events including art walks and visits to homes. Meals at Ram’s Hill, Red Ocotillo and the new restaurant Michaels. Big Horn restaurant was closed for the season.
Had Sharon over for happy hour and another day for soup dinner. Got savory roll and fresh pickled onion bread from Beth. Went to lunch and dinner a few times with Tom n Ann, as well as Beth n Steve. Suzanne had a few happy hours at our RV with Terry n Georgine as well as at Beth n Steve’s RV with Bruce n Janice as well as Hari and Kerri.
PT in Julian for six weeks plus – 2x per week. Gallbladder episode followed by early morning visit to ER in Rancho Mirage for CT and ultrasound – at least three weeks recovery. A gallbladder flare up late January made it obvious that we needed to remove my gallbladder. January was a lot more stressful than we needed. Suzanne found a doctor in La Jolla, whose clinic, specialized in robotic surgeries for various organs. Had a very low fact diet from January 10th to March 16th when I had by gallbladder removed at Scripps Memorial hospital in La Jolla. Followup visit in La Jolla end of March – supplies and errands in Poway. Non fat diet for the first 2 weeks post surgery, with lots of experimenting for the next six months or so. Will resume shoulder PT after we move to Jojoba SKP Resort in early April.
Felix continued to develop seizures. Frequency varied from several episodes per week to once a month. Visiting vet in Julian. We have Felix on monthly shot and daily pill to help with arthritus.
Purchased outside stove and oven – bought 10 amp 25′ power cord – as well as 30-amp to 15amp connector.
The weather was harder this visit. Many cold nights in January. Heat waves late January, mid February and late March – the weather was 90s and 100s for over ten days – including 4 days between 103 and 107. Wrapped reflectix on front windows. Bought awning extensions to help with heat.
Had a wind event which pancaked the front awning assembly – fortunately, the air strut was fully extended – Steve climbed onto the Vista to help with removing the inner brace arm. We were able to close the right assembly and put 2 screws into the wall mount. Purchased new right assembly from Panther Rv parts from Washington.
Danville house for about a month
From December Danville. Put RV into storage in Borrego Springs. Forgot a bunch of stuff – thankfully not critical to Reno. Drive to Danville 2-days after TG was really difficult – Felix was great even though the drive was 10.5 hours instead of 8.5 hours. Visited Suzanne’s mother at Sunrise. Great breakfast at Sidebar again. Met up with the S’vale group for dinner – picked up Traeger for transport back to Danville.
Took a couple of walks on walking trails. Took Suz’s ebike for maintenance and new battery in Pleasanton. Coffee and pastries at Inklings in Pleasanton, lunch at Tous de Jours. Favorites like sidebar and levers and maison benoit. Picked up Graham in San Francisco – power was out at his friend’s neighborhood, so walked to dinner at a very interesting place called Shuggies Trash Pie and interesting dessert at Souvla in the mission. Visited berkely hills, lunch at dinner at gregoire restaurant, drinks at jupiter pizza, followed by visit to the claremont hotel to see holiday decorations. locanda ravello in danville. Drinks at auburn lounge as well as canyon club brewing. Discovered new best coffee place in Danville called Tellus coffee – great pastries as well. Went to Pleasanton to see a movie and coffee at Story coffee. Met Kaya for dinner called Slanted Door followed by a very nice visit with her parents in the livermore area. Dinner at Zaya Thai again. Visited farmers markets in pleasanton and danville. A couple of nice visits with Suz’s mother at Sunrise – she was sick and then the facility was locked down, so visits were fewer and brief. Really nice Christmas dinner with Suz’s mother, Graham and family friend at the house – good meal and good visit – found out that the family friend has covid from cruise, but we were all fine. Sadly, we learned that Suzanne’s cousin from Washington passed away on Christmas day.
Reno VRBO. Nice place, view of NW hills, comfortable. Went to Perryns of course, same for Beloved. Coffee at the Hub and walk along the river. pre surgery meeting then early dinner for Suzanne’s birthday at Arario in mid town – it was good, but no alcholol for John. Surgery went well with Dr Dobbs – couple of hours long – left arm in imobilizer for six weeks. Short walks outside along the lake and pool – daily lattes at the condo place as well as the coffee place next door. Ate mostly at the condo due to meds. Lunch at the med restaurant south of auburn on I80.
Missed midnight UTC deadline for SL pause – will be billed for December. Finally got the KIA registered in California (battery died and 2 wheels needed a lot of air) – the colorado check engine light prevents smog check (need to investigate after Reno).
