Year – 5

Fall

  • Major smoke issues in central and eastern Oregon; changed plans and picked up the Jeep with new instrument cluster
  • Attended Blues and Brews festival in Telluride
  • Met up with Susan, Sam n Pearl in Cortez and Durango
  • Attended Balloon Festival with Sam
  • Met up with our friends for visit to Puerto Penasco – 3rd visit
  • Dropped off Vista in Borrego Springs for the rest of the fall; Felix stayed with Suz’s parents in Danville and Reno
  • Spent 45-days in Vietnam and Thailand with G Adventures National Geographic – had a great time
  • Special time in Reno with Suz’s parents, Graham, Cameron and Meghan

Spring & Summer

  • Drove slowly from San Diego NB to Astoria along the Pacific Coast Highway – got to see alot of the coastline and areas since we had so much time
  • Good visit with our friends Jeff & Sandy in Santa Barbara
  • Good visit with Suzanne’s parents as well as our friends in the Bay Area (Doves, Dyslins and Smiths). Also, had a great visit with old friends Brandy & Doug
  • Lots of good seafood along the coast; learned to crab in Oregon
  • Two trips from coast to central Oregon so Suzanne could attend the two bridal showers
  • Attended our nephew’s college graduation in Bend
  • Good time at the country festival in Central Point and Shakespeare plays in Ashland
  • Good visit with our friends Bill & Liz on the farmstead in Sutherlin
  • First time on river speed boats on the Rogue River
  • Fortunate to see Gray whales near Depot Bay and Newport Bay
  • Mostly cold and windy along coast but 90s inland each visit
  • Problems with Jeep – starter due to aux battery in Rockaway Beach; instrument cluster in Astoria
  • Good visits with Deb, Mark & Rose
  • Good dinner with Meghan’s parents in Salem; also, good visit with Cam and Meghan in Salem
  • Cam & Meghan’s wedding in Salem (rehearsal dinner as well)

Winter

  • We had to say goodbye to Rio in late March. The cancer in addition to old age finally became too much. We are going to miss him so much.
  • Winter in Borrego Springs was enjoyable, but it was windy and cold compared to previous years
  • Drove up to Salem with Rio for Cam and Meghan’s engagement party – Graham flew up for the party
  • Drove to Reno with Rio and Felix in February for Suzanne’s hip surgery – went well – drive back ran into snow and hail in LA area mountains
  • Visited with our friends Franz & Peg as well as seeing old friends Fred & Cindy in La Quinta
  • Enjoyed seeing our friends Tom & Ann as well as Beth & Steve who visit Borrego every year
