483 – Fairpark. Back again. 50-amp back-in site in older section had pedestal issues. Was move to newer section at same rates for first cycle. Stayed in newer section at higher rate since we liked it so much better. Visited Suzanne’s mother every couple of days. Visited friend Marsha’s bell performance at her church in Sunnyvale. Took Suzanne’s mother and friends to see Cirque Du Soleil called Echo in San Jose – lunch at Panera Bread – loved seeing the show again. Suzanne had another of doctor visits. Had a great visit with Suzanne’s mother at Sunrise for Mother’s Day brunch then high tea. Great pastries at Wingen and Patisserie by Simon in Livermore and Tours les Jours in Pleasanton. Visited Sideboard again. Good lunch at Diablo Taqueria. Really good dinner at Zaya Thai Pantry. Coffee at Inklings, Levers and Medleno. Drove to Reno for John’s hip surgery follow-up. Got ebikes tune up and maintenance at Mike’s Bike Shop. We had a really nice bike ride around Livermore’s winey loop.
Family drove and flew into town for Suzanne’s father celebration of life. Took family to dinner at Zaya Thai Pantry. COL at Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Danville. Went to Sunrise for immediate family afternoon. Suzanne, David and mother took Dave’s ashes to Tahoe. The family members went around town for coffee, snacks and visits to Sunrise to visit Suzanne’s mother. All in all – a lot of time and effort, including other family members, to pull off a really good COL.
Met up with Suzanne’s cousin Carol and her family in Carmel for the re-scheduled vrbo trip – really good visit and really nice house. Another great dinner at Sandbar and grill, dinner at Dametra and then Fishhopper. Coffee at Captain Stoker and pastry at Ad Astra and ice cream at Revival. Nice time at the street festival in Pacific Grove. Brought in pizza one night and played cards. A couple of good walks downtown Carmel, Monterey and Pacific Grove.
482 – KOA Moss Landing. Back again. FHU. SL and cell service good. Bath house was good. Weather ranged from good to fair weather depending on the day; however, weather was better in the afternoons. Walked around moss landing a couple of times walking around the marina as well as the beach. Walked to coffee at power plant cafe. Several good walks along beach and coast in Pacific Grove and downtown Monterey and lake. Really good dinner at sandbar and grill – halibut special was especially good. Visited coffee places again like captain stoker again. Visited like Ad Astra. Good dinner at Fandango in Pacific Grove. Nice live music and food at Folktale Winery in Carmel Valley. Met Jimmie in Soquel at Bargetto Winery for live band – dinner at El Chipoltle Taqueria and Restaurant – walked in downtown Capitola as well. Drove to Gilroy outlets for shopping for clothes for Africa.
Visited Danville area for Suzanne’s doctor appointment and to visit her mother at Sunrise. Also, drove to Sunnyvale to spend Easter with Jimmie’s family and friends.
481 – El Chorro County Park. FHU 30-amps. Used RV showers. Cellular and SL were good. Nice site – Chumash site 2. Good visits to nearby towns. Drinks and live music at Tognanzinnis in Morro Bay. Good quiche and pastries at La Parisienne as well. Good visit to SLO walking downtown – coffee and scones at Scouts. Good visit to Cayucos – walked along the beach – good lunch at Hidden Kitchen. Visited SLO for evening street market – a lot of people – especially with Cal Poly’s welcome week. Great visit to a new destination food and drink food market south of SLO – great pastries at Pardon My French and great coffee at Lucy’s coffee. Visited elephant seals, then walked boardwalk on Moonstone beach in Cambria – drove to Cambria for a really nice dinner at Sow’s Ear. Visited Paso Robles for art show – went to nearby H. Cheval for coffee then drinks and appetizers at Taste’s eatery.
480 – Oceano State Park. Two sites – 30 amps. W n E only. Token showers okay. Cellular and SL were good. Camped with Mike n Marsha. Sites were okay. Dinner at Old Juan’s Cantina and lunch at Custom House in Avila. Nice beach walks in Pismo near our campground. We cooked one dinner and the Dyslins cooked one dinner. nice meal and drinks while watching final four game in Pismo at The Boardroom. Nice visit to Avila – ran into Mark and his family from Danville.
479 – Fairpark. Back again. 50-amp site but got moved to back row – not the greatest. Stayed for two reservations.
Suzanne’s cousin Carol arrived to help with Suzanne’s mother while we went to Reno for John’s hip replacement surgery. Drove to Reno 2x – stayed at the same air bnb as we did in January. Visited similar places for meals. Surgery was at the ROC for John’s surgery. Jimmie drove John to Reno for 2-week check-up. Visited Suzanne’s parents storage unit to figure out next steps.
Suzanne’s brother drove down to Danville to help with moving her mother to assisted living facility. Lots of logistics. Spent more time taking Suzanne’s mother shopping, eating and getting her haircut and coloring.
Cancelled Six Flags RV Resort in Avila due to Suzanne’s mother transition.
478 – Orange Grove. Back again except it was only John. Managed to get gas without too much fuss.
477 – Springs at Borrego. Arrived later than planned due to Suzanne’s planned surgery. Back in site 401. Had nice visits with Beth n Steve, Tom n Anne and Sharon. Suzanne could not use the pool nor jacuzzis due to surgery – same for bike riding. We managed a few walks and visits to town, christmas circle and library. Started weekly visits to local BYOB at Steve n Beth’s church – music and bowl of soup. Had great cinnamon buns and meals with Beth n Steve. A few live music events that we visited with Sharon – her RV broke down and had to be towed.
We postponed our baja trip till 2026; however, we had to shorten our stay due to John’s hip replacement March 13th.
Suzanne and John flew to Minneapolis for five days for Franz’s celebration of life. Beth n Steve checked in with Felix every couple of days.
Suzanne was notified that her father had fallen a 2nd time within a week and was in the hospital – her mother needed someone to stay with her. Took Suzanne to the Palm Springs airport on February 13th. Suzanne’s father passed away on February 19th. John packed up Felix and drove the Jeep to Danville for 10-days or so – came back on March 3rd without Suzanne and Felix. Left Borrego, driving the RV on March 8th. Suzanne’s brother few down, as did Cam, Meg and Graham. The family stayed 3-5 days. We comforted Suzanne’s mother and tried to keep her busy as she processed her husband’s passing.
476 – Orange Grove RV Park. Back again.
475 – Continued stay at Fairpark for another couple of weeks. Upgraded to 50-amp site. Visited Suzanne’s parents a few times mid january. Met Jimmie for lunch at BJ’s in Cupertino before meeting Rodney’s replacement at Schwab. Met with Mike and Michelle for lunch at Luna in Campbell. Dinner with friends at the Dove’s house – Jimmie, Cat, Mike, Marsha and Jerry. Met Jimmie for lunch then coffee at Mayflower restaurant in Dublin and Peet’s coffee in Pleasanton. A Few more visits to Inklings and Sidebar. Suzanne took her mother to lunch at Piatti’s then haircut.
Went to Reno 3x for doctor s appointments as well as Suzanne’s 2nd hip replacement surgery for a week in early January. Stayed in air bnb in sparks. Cold but good weather. Visits to Perrenn for coffee and pastries. Lunch at Two Chicks. Coffee at Waldens in mid town. Good breakfasts at Truckee Bagel Company and Carillos Cocina. Good dinner at Chin Chin and Nickos Greek in Sparks. Lunch at Beloveds Bakery Cafe. Dinner at Parlor. Cast Iron Trading in Stockton. World Traveller coffee and pastries in Sacramento area.
